NACDDB

NACDDB archives circular dichroism (CD) and synchrotron radiation CD (SRCD) spectral data for DNA, RNA, DNA/RNA hybrids, and nucleic acid derivatives to support structural analysis and research into nucleic acid conformations.

Key Features:

  • Spectral archive: Stores experimental CD and SRCD spectra associated with nucleic acids.
  • Data scope: Covers DNA, RNA, DNA/RNA hybrids, and various nucleic acid derivatives.
  • Experimental metadata: Includes experimental conditions and metadata for each spectral record.
  • Primary sequence linkage: Links each entry to the corresponding primary nucleic acid sequence information.
  • Experimental structural data: Associates spectra with available experimental structural data.
  • Three-dimensional models: Provides three-dimensional structure models for all entries.
  • Literature links: Includes references and links to pertinent primary literature for each entry.
  • Expert validation and curation: Entries undergo expert review to ensure completeness, consistency, and quality.
  • Open submission policy: Allows researchers to contribute CD and SRCD data for nucleic acids.

Scientific Applications:

  • Nucleic acid structural characterization: Use CD and SRCD spectra to analyze secondary and tertiary conformations of nucleic acids.
  • Comparative spectral analysis: Compare spectral signatures across DNA, RNA, DNA/RNA hybrids, and derivatives.
  • Sequence–structure integration: Integrate spectral data with primary sequences and three-dimensional models for structure–function studies.
  • Basic and applied research: Support basic structural studies and applied investigations, including drug design and therapeutic development.
  • Cross-disciplinary research: Serve molecular biology, genetics, and bioinformatics studies that require curated CD/SRCD data.

Methodology:

Entries consist of archived CD and SRCD spectra with associated experimental metadata, primary sequences, experimental structural data, three-dimensional structure models, and literature references, and they undergo expert validation and curation.
