NeLS

NeLS provides Norwegian life scientists and international collaborators with a project-oriented system to store, share, archive, and analyse omics-scale data.

Key Features:

• Data Storage and Sharing: Users can store, share, and archive omics-scale data in a project-oriented fashion.
• Online Data Analysis: Integrated instances of Galaxy enable online analysis of data, including a set of pre-defined workflows.
• Multiple Access Modes: The system can be accessed via web application, web API, and SSH.
• Sequencing Data Integration: Through collaboration with NorSeq, sequencing data generated in research projects is provided to researchers through NeLS.
• Sensitive Data Handling: Sensitive data such as individual genomic sequencing data are handled using the TSD (Services for Sensitive Data) platform provided by Sigma2 and the University of Oslo.
• SEEK Platform Integration: NeLS is integrated with the SEEK platform to store large data files produced by experiments described in SEEK.
• National e-Infrastructure Integration: NeLS integrates national e-infrastructure storage and computing resources.

• Omics Data Management: Storage, sharing, and archiving of omics-scale data for life sciences research projects.
• Workflow-Based Data Analysis: Execution of pre-defined workflows for analysis of omics data through integrated Galaxy instances.
• High-Throughput Sequencing Data Distribution: Provision of sequencing data from NorSeq to involved researchers for downstream analysis.
• Sensitive Genomics Data Analysis: Secure handling and analysis of individual genomic sequencing data through the TSD platform.

Methodology:

NeLS integrates national e-infrastructure storage and computing resources, and is integrated with the SEEK platform and Galaxy workbench for data analysis and workflow execution.
