NGL VIewer

NGL Viewer renders interactive 3D visualizations of macromolecular structures to enable analysis of spatial arrangements and interactions in structural biology, bioinformatics, and molecular modeling.

Key Features:

  • WebGL rendering: Uses WebGL to render interactive 3D graphics of large molecular complexes directly in the browser.
  • Supported file formats: Accepts standard structural file formats including PDB and mmCIF.
  • Representation modes: Provides molecular representations such as 'cartoon', 'spacefill', and 'licorice' for proteins, DNA, RNA, and other macromolecules.

Scientific Applications:

  • Structural visualization: Provides detailed, interactive views of proteins, DNA, RNA, and other macromolecules.
  • Spatial and interaction analysis: Enables analysis of spatial arrangements and molecular interactions that underpin biological function.
  • Structural biology and bioinformatics: Supports investigations in structural biology, bioinformatics, and molecular modeling.
  • Drug design and molecular engineering: Facilitates visualization tasks relevant to drug design and molecular engineering workflows.

Methodology:

Renders 3D graphics using WebGL in web browsers and supports standard structural file formats such as PDB and mmCIF.
