NIASGBdb
NIASGBdb provides a linked database of agrobiological genetic resources, passport and evaluation data, SSR marker and DNA sequence data, and plant disease nomenclature to support plant genetics, breeding, and pathology research.
Key Features:
- Genetic Resource Database: Searchable records for plant and microorganism research materials including passport data and evaluation data describing sample origin, history, and assessed properties.
- Plant Diseases Database: A compendium of common names of plant diseases in Japan as listed by the Phytopathological Society of Japan.
- Web Retrieval System: Linked retrieval that connects genetic resource records with corresponding plant disease information for integrated queries.
- NIAS Core Collections: Collections including the NIAS Rice (Oryza sativa) Core Collection of Japanese Landraces with simple sequence repeat (SSR) polymorphisms, SSR marker data for azuki bean (Vigna angularis) and black gram (V. mungo), and DNA sequences from selected Japanese Fusarium strains.
Scientific Applications:
- Genetic diversity and conservation: Enable studies of genetic variation and the conservation of agrobiological resources using passport, evaluation, and marker data.
- Breeding and trait improvement: Support development of improved crop varieties by providing SSR marker data and evaluation information relevant to traits such as disease resistance and nutritional profiles.
- Plant pathology research: Facilitate investigation of the genetic basis of plant diseases by linking pathogen DNA sequences and host genetic resources with standardized disease nomenclature.
Methodology:
Genetic resources are cataloged with passport and evaluation data and plant disease names from the Phytopathological Society of Japan are integrated to enable linked web retrieval of genetic and disease information.
