OMERO-lib

OMERO-lib provides integrated management and FAIR-compliant storage of multi-omics and biomedical imaging data to support joint analyses and data-driven research.

Key Features:

  • Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA): Built on SOA principles to enable modular, scalable integration and management of multi-omics and biomedical imaging datasets.
  • Interoperable Image Management System: Incorporates the OMERO server integrated into the backend of qPortal, a FAIR-compliant platform for omics data management.
  • FAIR Compliance: Supports creation and use of metadata models and practices that promote Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable data.
  • Integrated Metadata Model: Implements an integrated metadata model that facilitates comprehensive metadata queries across datasets.
  • Software Components for Communication: Provides software components to enable communication with the OMERO server and extend data management operations across system components.

Scientific Applications:

  • Plant biology studies: Management and integration of diverse imaging and omics datasets for prototypical plant biology research.
  • Clinical research on hepatocellular carcinoma: Handling of medical imaging and omics modalities to support clinical research on hepatocellular carcinoma.
  • Integrative omics–imaging analyses and machine learning: Enabling joint analyses of omics and imaging data and supporting machine learning applications that require extensive datasets with phenotypic annotations.

Methodology:

Integration of the OMERO server with qPortal, development of software components to communicate with the OMERO server, and implementation of an integrated metadata model to support metadata queries, storage, retrieval, and joint analyses of omics and imaging data.
