Oncoyeasti

Oncoyeasti identifies human homologs of Saccharomyces cerevisiae genes and analyzes their status in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Cancer Cell Line Encyclopedia (CCLE) datasets to facilitate translation of yeast deletion-library findings to human cancer research.

Key Features:

  • Human homolog identification: Automates identification of human homologs corresponding to Saccharomyces cerevisiae genes.
  • Yeast gene-deletion library reference: Leverages the Saccharomyces cerevisiae gene-deletion library comprising over 6,000 deletion mutants for mapping and interpretation.
  • TCGA integration: Accesses and analyzes tumor-sample data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA).
  • CCLE integration: Accesses and analyzes cell-line data from the Cancer Cell Line Encyclopedia (CCLE).
  • Drug target mapping: Maps yeast genetic perturbations to human genes to support identification of potential anti-cancer drug targets.
  • High-throughput screening support: Supports analysis relevant to high-throughput chemical screens using the yeast deletion library.

Scientific Applications:

  • Homolog mapping for target prioritization: Identify and prioritize human genes homologous to S. cerevisiae deletion mutants for follow-up in cancer research.
  • Cancer dataset interrogation: Assess the status of homologous human genes across TCGA tumor samples and CCLE cell lines.
  • Drug target discovery: Support identification of candidate anti-cancer targets based on yeast deletion phenotypes and human homology.
  • Experimental selection guidance: Inform selection of relevant tumor samples and cell lines for validation of yeast-derived hypotheses.

Methodology:

Automated homolog identification and analysis of TCGA and CCLE datasets using the Saccharomyces cerevisiae gene-deletion library of over 6,000 mutants.
