openPIP

openPIP hosts and enables analysis of protein-protein interaction (PPI) datasets to store, visualize, and disseminate genome-scale interactome maps for characterization of protein interaction networks.

Key Features:

  • Comprehensive Data Hosting: Stores genome-wide systematically-generated PPI datasets and associated metadata.
  • Visualization Tools: Provides network visualization capabilities to interpret complex interaction topology and connectivity.
  • Analysis Capabilities: Provides analytical functions for exploring PPI datasets and deriving network-level insights.
  • Web-Based Dissemination: Supports dissemination of specialized experimental PPI datasets via the web alongside deposition to standard repositories.

Scientific Applications:

  • Reference interactome hosting: Used to build and host reference protein interactome maps such as the Human Reference Protein Interactome (HuRI) and Yeast Reference Protein Interactome (YeRI).
  • Proteomics and systems biology: Enables analysis of proteome-scale interaction networks to study cellular processes and disease-related perturbations.

Methodology:

Distributed as a Docker container and with source code hosted on GitHub.
