PDBImages

PDBImages generates publication-quality images of macromolecular structures from Protein Data Bank (PDB) and AlphaFold Database models using the Mol* visualization library in a server-side Node.js environment.

Key Features:

  • Browserless rendering: Server-side rendering that renders and saves images directly to files without requiring a browser interface.
  • Mol* integration: Uses the Mol* molecular visualization library for rendering and visualization operations.
  • Data source support: Accepts and processes models from the Protein Data Bank (PDB) and the AlphaFold Database.
  • Multiple image formats: Produces a variety of output image formats for different visualization and publication needs.

Scientific Applications:

  • Structural biology visualization: Produces high-quality images for analysis and interpretation of macromolecular structures.
  • Comparative analysis of experimental and predicted models: Enables visual comparison between PDB entries and AlphaFold predictions.
  • High-throughput image generation: Supports automated generation of images for large-scale structural biology and bioinformatics workflows.

Methodology:

PDBImages integrates the Mol* visualization library within a Node.js server-side environment to render and save images from Protein Data Bank and AlphaFold Database models.
