Pharmosome
Pharmosome provides an integrated platform for cataloging and analyzing more than 30,000 disease-associated single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) to study genetic variation, disease associations, and drug response.
Key Features:
- Extensive SNP Repository: Hosts a collection of more than 30,000 SNPs associated with various diseases and drug responses.
- Dynamic Analysis Pipelines: Implements pipelines to explore relationships between SNPs, their roles in disease pathways, and gene interactions within shared biological pathways.
- Primer Design: Provides primer design functionality for detecting SNPs across large genomes to support experimental validation.
- Sequence Alignment: Performs sequence alignment for comparative analysis of SNP-containing sequences.
- Phylogenetic Tree Construction: Constructs phylogenetic trees to visualize evolutionary relationships among SNPs or variant-containing sequences.
- Consensus Sequence Generation: Generates consensus sequences to summarize commonalities across sets of SNP-associated sequences.
Scientific Applications:
- Genomics research: Enables study of genetic variation and SNP associations with disease phenotypes.
- Pharmacogenomics: Supports analysis of SNP associations with drug response to inform biomarker discovery and targeted therapy development.
- Personalized medicine: Provides variant-level data and analyses applicable to patient stratification and precision medicine research.
- Evolutionary and population genetics: Facilitates comparative and phylogenetic analyses to investigate evolutionary relationships among variants.
Methodology:
Implements computational pipelines for SNP–pathway analysis, primer design, sequence alignment, phylogenetic tree construction, and consensus sequence generation; the platform is built using Python and the Django framework.
