PIDS
PIDS manages large-scale plant microsatellite DNA fingerprint databases and associated capillary electrophoresis images to enable individual identification and genetic analyses in plant molecular research.
Key Features:
- Data Management: Automatic data collection, storage, and handling of heterogeneous microsatellite DNA fingerprint data using merging and comparison algorithms.
- Genetic Analysis Capabilities: Built-in functions to perform genetic analyses relevant to molecular marker studies and breeding.
- Laboratory Integration: Matching of capillary electrophoresis images at each primer locus to fingerprint records and upload to the database.
- Back-end Customization: Extension and customization of back-end functions to adapt computational workflows and data processing.
Scientific Applications:
- Crop Breeding and Variety Quality Control: Management and comparison of fingerprints to support breeding decisions and variety quality assessment.
- Variety Right Protection: Maintenance of detailed genetic records for verification of plant variety authenticity and origin.
- Molecular Marker-Assisted Breeding: Storage and analysis of marker data to support marker-assisted selection workflows.
- Forensic Human Identification: Application of DNA fingerprint matching methods to human identification contexts.
- Virus and Microorganism Research: Use of DNA fingerprinting for pathogen identification and tracking in microorganisms and viruses.
Methodology:
Merging and comparison algorithms for heterogeneous microsatellite DNA fingerprint data; matching capillary electrophoresis images at each primer locus to fingerprint records; automatic data collection and storage; and execution of genetic analyses.
