PLANA provides a controlled anatomy ontology for Schmidtea mediterranea that organizes and annotates anatomical structures across developmental stages and in intact and regenerating body fragments to support interoperability and gene-expression mapping.

  • Data Curation Resources: Supports creation of a staging series for planarian embryogenesis and a molecular fate-mapping atlas and underpins the Planarian Anatomy Gene Expression database linking published transcript and gene expression data to anatomical terms.
  • Open-Source and FAIR Principles: Built on open-source principles and adheres to FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reproducible) guidelines, supporting ongoing curation and versioning.
