Plant PTM Viewer
Plant PTM Viewer integrates approximately 370,000 experimentally identified post-translational modification (PTM) sites across 19 PTM types from five plant species to catalogue and enable analysis of site-specific PTMs in plant proteins.
Key Features:
- Integrative Database: Consolidates ~370,000 site-specific PTM annotations across 19 PTM types and five plant species.
- Sequence Overview with Highlighted Modifications: Provides protein sequence overviews with experimentally evidenced PTMs highlighted, including confidence estimates for modified peptides and specific modification sites, and annotated functional domains and active site residues.
- Advanced Search Tools: Includes a PTM Sequence Search Tool for querying combinations of PTMs within sequences and a PTM BLAST Tool for searching modified protein sequences to detect conserved PTMs across homologs.
- Open Repository: Supports submission of new mass spectrometry–based PTM data.
Scientific Applications:
- Comparative PTM Analysis: Enables comparison of PTM patterns across different plant species and PTM types.
- PTM Interplay and Functional Inference: Facilitates analysis of co-occurring PTMs within proteins to infer regulatory relationships and functional consequences.
- Cellular Signaling Studies: Supports investigation of phosphorylation and other PTMs in cellular signaling by linking PTM sites to functional domains and active residues.
- Conservation Detection: Detects conserved PTMs across homologous sequences using sequence-based searches.
Methodology:
Integration of ~370,000 experimentally identified PTM sites across 19 PTM types from five plant species with site-specific annotations and confidence estimates for modified peptides and sites; provision of PTM Sequence Search and PTM BLAST for sequence-based queries; acceptance of mass spectrometry–based PTM data submissions.
