PlasMapper

PlasMapper annotates plasmid DNA sequences by using sequence pattern matching and BLAST alignment to identify promoters, terminators, cloning sites, restriction sites, reporter genes, affinity tags, selectable marker genes, replication origins, and open reading frames (ORFs) to support plasmid design and analysis.

Key Features:

  • Automated annotation: Employs sequence pattern matching and BLAST alignment to detect and label promoters, terminators, cloning sites, restriction sites, reporter genes, affinity tags, selectable marker genes, replication origins, and ORFs within input DNA sequences.
  • Graphical output formats: Generates high-resolution multicolored plasmid maps exportable in PNG, JPG, and SVG formats.

Scientific Applications:

  • Research and development: Supports design and analysis of plasmids used in cloning experiments and gene expression studies in molecular biology.
  • Educational purposes: Produces clear plasmid maps for teaching and learning in genetic engineering and biotechnology.
  • Publication and presentation: Provides high-resolution PNG, JPG, or SVG figures for inclusion in scientific papers and presentations.

Methodology:

Integration of sequence pattern matching and BLAST alignment for identification and labeling of plasmid genetic features.
