plastiC
plastiC identifies, assesses, and characterizes plastid genomes within metagenomic datasets to recover algal plastid metagenome assembled genomes (MAGs) and predict their taxonomic association.
Key Features:
- Plastid genome identification: Identifies plastid genomes in metagenome assemblies.
- Completeness assessment: Assesses the completeness of identified plastid MAGs.
- Taxonomic association prediction: Predicts the taxonomic association of plastid MAGs from diverse environmental sources.
- Algal plastid MAG recovery: Recovers algal plastid MAGs from metagenomic data.
Scientific Applications:
- Lichen metagenomics: Recovers algal plastid MAGs from publicly available lichen metagenomes.
- Environmental plastid diversity: Characterizes plastid genomes from diverse environmental sources.
- Plastid misidentification resolution: Distinguishes plastid MAGs from low-quality bacterial MAGs arising from endosymbiotic origin.
Methodology:
plastiC is implemented as a Snakemake workflow.
