PltDB

PltDB integrates and visualizes platelet mRNA, long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), circular RNA (circRNA), and microRNA (miRNA) expression profiles derived from RNA-seq and microarray datasets to support biomarker discovery and molecular investigation of disease.

Key Features:

  • Integration and Visualization: integrates and visualizes RNA expression data from RNA-seq and microarray technologies across mRNAs, lncRNAs, circRNAs, and miRNAs.
  • Comprehensive Dataset: aggregates platelet expression profiles from healthy individuals and patients with diverse diseases for comparative analyses.
  • Analytical Tools: implements comparison and correlation analyses of RNA expression to identify candidate biomarkers and molecular associations.
  • Clinical Application Synthesis: consolidates information on clinical applications of platelet RNA and addresses technical challenges posed by heterogeneous datasets.

Scientific Applications:

  • Biomarker Development: enables discovery and validation of blood-based biomarkers from platelet RNA for disease detection, including cancer.
  • Molecular Characterization of Disease: supports investigation of disease mechanisms via platelet RNA expression patterns to inform diagnostic and therapeutic research.

Methodology:

The database was constructed by integrating RNA-seq and microarray expression data to create a consolidated repository of platelet-based gene and non-coding RNA expression profiles.
