PolymiRTS
PolymiRTS catalogs single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in microRNA (miRNA) target sites and links them to GWAS, eQTLs, experimental validations, and phenotype data to enable study of how miRNA-target site polymorphisms affect gene regulation and disease-related traits in humans and mice.
Key Features:
- Integration with Disease-Related Genes: Links SNPs in miRNA target sites to genes and traits identified by genome-wide association studies (GWAS).
- Experimental Validation Links: Includes polymorphisms in miRNA target sites that have been validated by experimental methods.
- Focus on miRNA Seed Regions: Prioritizes SNPs located within miRNA seed regions that are critical for miRNA binding and function.
- Comprehensive Data Integration: Incorporates newly identified microRNAs and SNPs and includes publications on mouse phenotypes and expression quantitative trait loci (eQTLs) for humans and mice.
Scientific Applications:
- Linking Variation to Expression and Phenotype: Connects SNPs, eQTLs, and GWAS results to facilitate investigation of how miRNA-target site polymorphisms contribute to transcriptional regulation and phenotypic variation.
- Candidate Variant Identification: Enables identification of candidate genetic variants that may play roles in complex diseases and provides data relevant to potential therapeutic target investigations.
Methodology:
The database is organized with links between SNPs in miRNA target sites and their associated eQTLs and GWAS findings, supporting analyses of how genetic variation affects miRNA function and gene expression across species.
