polysacdb
polysacdb catalogs microbial polysaccharide antigens and their corresponding antibodies to support research on antigenic polysaccharides and polysaccharide-based vaccine development.
Key Features:
- Comprehensive dataset: 1,554 entries describing 149 antigenic polysaccharides from 347 distinct microbial sources compiled from literature and web resources.
- Detailed entry annotations: Each entry lists origin of the polysaccharide, biological function, protocols for conjugation to carriers, antibodies produced, assay systems used for evaluation, antibody specificities and proposed epitopes, and utilities of the antibodies.
- Manual curation: Entries were manually curated to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Scientific Applications:
- Vaccine development: Supports design and evaluation of polysaccharide-based vaccines by providing antigen and antibody information relevant to conjugation and immunogenicity.
- Immunology and pathogenicity research: Facilitates analysis of roles of antigenic polysaccharides in microbial pathogenicity and immune response, including epitope specificity studies.
Methodology:
Data were systematically gathered from literature and web resources and manually curated.
