POMO

POMO integrates and visualizes genomic feature relationships and annotations across multiple organisms including humans, mice, nematodes, flies, yeast, zebrafish, Escherichia coli, Arabidopsis, rice, and tomato to support interpretation of complex heterogeneous omics associations.

Key Features:

  • Visualization modes: Provides circular, network, and grid layouts, with the circular layout mapping chromosomes to perimeter segments and an optional outer reference ring (e.g., cytoband for humans).
  • Data integration: Accepts networks and annotations as text files and converts annotations into visual representations such as bars, histograms, or heatmaps, supporting diverse omics data including gene copy number changes.
  • Label and weight filtering: Supports filtering by labels and weights to refine network and annotation relationships.
  • Custom organism references: Enables plotting associations for unsupported strains or closely related species, including ortholog mappings (e.g., human–mouse) and comparisons of different yeast wild types.
  • Built-in organism references: Includes reference mappings for humans, mice, nematodes, flies, yeast, zebrafish, Escherichia coli, Arabidopsis, rice, and tomato.

Scientific Applications:

  • Systems biology and genomics: Visualization and filtering of genome-wide networks relative to chromosomal locations to aid interpretation of complex association results.
  • Comparative genomics: Comparative analysis across multiple organisms and ortholog studies such as human–mouse comparisons.
  • Integrative omics analysis: Integration and contextual visualization of heterogeneous omics data types, including gene copy number changes, within unified genomic representations.

Methodology:

Converts networks and annotations provided as text files into circular, network, or grid visual representations (including bars, histograms, heatmaps), maps chromosomes to perimeter segments with an optional outer cytoband reference, and applies label- and weight-based filtering.
