POWER
POWER performs pipeline phylogenetic analysis to calculate genetic distances and infer phylogenetic relationships from sequences provided as FASTA or pre-aligned files.
Key Features:
- Flexible Input Options: Accepts raw sequences in FASTA format or pre-aligned files for analysis.
- Advanced Tree Building: Uses the GD library to generate graphical tree topologies from computed results.
- Algorithm Selection and Alignment Refinement: Supports selection of algorithms and refinement of alignments and tree topologies, including use of ClustalW and PHYLIP.
- Comprehensive Logging: Logs input sequences and processing history to support reproducibility.
- Iterative Analysis Capability: Enables iterative addition or removal of sequences and reconstruction of phylogenetic trees to refine models.
Scientific Applications:
- Evolutionary biology: Analyze genetic distances and infer phylogenetic relationships among taxa.
- Gene function and comparative genomics: Support analyses of gene evolution and comparative studies across species.
- Molecular ecology: Investigate population- and community-level relationships using sequence data.
Methodology:
Performs sequence alignment with ClustalW, phylogenetic inference with PHYLIP, accepts FASTA or pre-aligned inputs, generates tree images via the GD library, runs on an open-source LAMP architecture, and logs input sequences and processing history.
