PrecocityDB
PrecocityDB consolidates manually curated genes, single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), pathways, and ontology data related to precocious puberty to support systematic analysis of its genetic architecture and associated comorbidities.
Key Features:
- Comprehensive Data Repository: Manually curated collection of genes, SNPs, pathways, and ontology terms associated with precocious puberty aggregated from scientific publications.
- Genomic Visualization: Visualizes SNP coordinates and allelic variations on chromosomes for genes implicated in precocious puberty.
- Enrichment Analysis: Performs pathway and disease enrichment analyses identifying enrichment of endocrine and cancer-related pathways and suggesting comorbidities such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), hypogonadism, and insulin resistance among PP-associated genes.
Scientific Applications:
- Comorbidity Inference: Identifies shared genetic factors between precocious puberty and other disorders to inform potential comorbidities and disease risk.
- Genetic Architecture Studies: Enables systematic investigation of genetic underpinnings of precocious puberty and its broader health implications.
Methodology:
Data were manually curated from scientific literature and the system is implemented using an Apache web server environment with a MySQL database connection.
