ProGlycProt

ProGlycProt provides a manually curated database of bacterial and archaeal glycoproteins with experimentally validated glycosites to support analysis of prokaryotic protein glycosylation.


Key Features:

  • Comprehensive data sections: Two sections — ProCGP contains 95 glycoprotein entries with characterized glycosites and ProUGP contains 245 entries with reported glycosylation but uncharacterized glycosites.
  • Detailed cross-referencing: Entries include source organism, coding gene, protein features and structure, glycosylation type, attached glycans, associated enzymes such as oligosaccharyltransferases (OSTs) and glycosyltransferases (GTs), literature references, and related annotations.
  • Unique entries relative to Swiss‑Prot: The database reports 174 entries with information not annotated in the Swiss‑Prot release of July 2011.
  • Structural insights: A gallery provides homology models and available crystal structures for characterized glycoproteins.
  • Sequon analysis tools: Two computational tools support investigation of prokaryotic sequons to analyze sequence contexts surrounding glycosites that differ from eukaryotic glycosylation signatures.

  • Glycobiology and microbial proteomics: Provides curated data on 334 experimentally identified glycosites and 340 prokaryotic glycoproteins for glycobiology and microbial proteomics studies.
