Pv3Rs
Pv3Rs implements statistical inference of Plasmodium vivax recurrence states (recrudescence, relapse, reinfection) from P. vivax genetic data.
Key Features:
- Recurrence state inference: Computes posterior probabilities of recrudescence, relapse, and reinfection using a statistical model of genetic relationships between parasites.
- Multiple genetic data type support: Applicable to length polymorphic loci and amplicon sequencing data.
- Cross-infection genetic modeling: Models genetic relationships between parasites within and across infections under various simplifying assumptions.
Scientific Applications:
- Clinical trial analysis: Improves estimates of antimalarial treatment efficacy through molecular correction of recurrence classification.
- Plasmodium vivax epidemiology: Distinguishes between hypnozoite activation, treatment failure, and new mosquito inoculation as causes of malaria recurrence.
Methodology:
Statistical modeling of genetic relationships between parasites within and across infections to compute posterior probabilities of recurrence states.
