QGRS Mapper

QGRS Mapper identifies and maps quadruplex-forming guanine-rich sequences (QGRS) in DNA and RNA sequences to support analysis of G-quadruplex roles in processes such as DNA replication, transcription, polyadenylation, and splicing.

Key Features:

  • QGRS identification: Identifies and analyzes quadruplex-forming guanine-rich sequences (QGRS) within nucleotide sequences.
  • Sequence scope: Analyzes both DNA and RNA sequences, including promoter regions, telomeric areas, and other genomic segments.
  • Oligonucleotide prediction: Predicts G-quadruplex structures in oligonucleotides.
  • NCBI integration: Integrates with NCBI databases to search for and retrieve specific gene or nucleotide sequences.
  • Pre-mRNA mapping: Provides detailed information on the composition and locations of QGRS relative to pre-mRNA processing sites, including polyadenylation and splicing.
  • Graphical visualization: Generates graphical representations of G-quadruplex distribution across all alternative RNA products of a gene simultaneously.

Scientific Applications:

  • Replication and proliferation studies: Analyze putative roles of G-quadruplexes in DNA replication regulation and cellular proliferation control.
  • RNA processing analysis: Investigate effects of G-quadruplexes on RNA processing events such as polyadenylation and splicing, including alternative splicing.
  • Regulatory element mapping: Map G-quadruplexes in promoters and telomeres to assess potential impacts on gene regulation.
  • Therapeutic target exploration: Support exploration of the biological significance and therapeutic potential of G-quadruplex motifs in DNA and RNA.

Methodology:

Search and retrieval of gene or nucleotide sequences from NCBI databases, computational identification and analysis of QGRS within input DNA/RNA sequences, mapping QGRS positions relative to pre-mRNA processing sites, and generation of graphical representations of G-quadruplex distributions across alternative RNA products.
