ResistoXplorer

ResistoXplorer: Resistome analysis and integration platform for antimicrobial resistance metagenomics

ResistoXplorer performs visual, statistical, and exploratory analysis of resistome data derived from antimicrobial resistance (AMR) metagenomics and whole metagenomic sequencing studies, enabling characterization and comparison of antimicrobial resistance gene profiles within microbial communities.

Key Features:

  • Antimicrobial Resistance Gene Table Module: Conducts composition profiling, functional profiling, and comparative analysis of resistome datasets to assess resistance gene distribution and functional categories.
  • Integration Module: Performs integrative exploratory analysis of resistome and microbiome abundance profiles from metagenomic samples to evaluate associations between antimicrobial resistance genes and microbial community structure.
  • Antimicrobial Resistance Gene List Module: Analyzes associations between antimicrobial resistance genes and microbial hosts using network-based visual analytics to investigate resistance gene dissemination.
  • Functional Annotation and Phenotype Repository: Incorporates curated functional annotations and phenotype data to support biological interpretation of resistome profiles.

Scientific Applications:

  • Antimicrobial Resistance Research: Supports high-throughput analysis of AMR metagenomic data, comparative resistome studies, gene–host association analysis, and integration of resistome and microbiome datasets in complex microbial ecosystems, including the human microbiome.

Methodology:

Integrates statistical methods and visualization techniques tailored to metagenomic datasets within a modular framework, enabling processing, annotation, profiling, comparative analysis, and network-based exploration of antimicrobial resistance genes and associated microbiome abundance data.
