Rhinella arenarum transcriptome

Rhinella arenarum transcriptome provides a de novo assembled and annotated larval transcriptome of Rhinella arenarum to support gene expression, functional genomics, and phylogenetic analyses in the absence of a reference genome.

Key Features:

  • Sequencing: Massive RNA sequencing of R. arenarum larvae generated the raw data.
  • Assembly: De novo assembly of RNA-seq reads produced the transcript set.
  • Annotation: Functional annotation and gene prediction were applied to assembled transcripts.
  • Transcript inventory: The dataset comprises 57,407 well-annotated transcripts.
  • Completeness: The transcriptome reports 99.4% completeness.
  • lncRNA catalog: Identification of 52,800 high-confidence long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcripts.
  • Validation: Reliability was demonstrated through application in phylogenetic analysis.

Scientific Applications:

  • Gene expression analysis: Enables differential expression and transcriptional profiling in R. arenarum larvae.
  • Functional genomics: Supports identification of gene functions and regulatory elements including lncRNAs.
  • Phylogenetics: Enables phylogenetic and evolutionary studies using assembled transcripts.
  • Ecotoxicology biomarkers: Facilitates identification of molecular biomarkers relevant to environmental toxicology and ecotoxicological research.
  • Non-model organism research: Enables molecular studies in a non-model amphibian lacking a reference genome.

Methodology:

Massive RNA sequencing of R. arenarum larvae was followed by de novo assembly, annotation, gene prediction, and validation via phylogenetic analysis.
