RNA CoMPASS
RNA CoMPASS performs simultaneous transcriptome and metatranscriptome analysis to characterize host gene expression and microbial activity within the same sequencing dataset.
Key Features:
- Integrated Host–Microbe Analysis: Concurrently processes transcriptome and metatranscriptome data to detect host expression profiles and microbial transcripts, including Epstein Barr virus (EBV).
- Parallelized Computational Pipeline: Integrates established bioinformatics tools within a parallel computing framework to efficiently analyze large-scale high-throughput sequencing datasets.
- Phenotype Discrimination: Performs clustering and expression profiling to distinguish phenotypes such as Burkitt's lymphomas with activated MYC signaling and reduced interferon and NF-kB signaling from Epstein Barr virus-transformed lymphoblastoid cell lines (LCLs).
Scientific Applications:
- Host–Pathogen Interaction Studies: Enables integrated analysis of host transcriptional responses and microbial presence in infectious disease, cancer, and immunology research.
Methodology:
RNA CoMPASS combines transcriptome and metatranscriptome processing using integrated bioinformatics tools and parallel computation, followed by clustering and differential expression analyses to characterize host signaling pathways and microbial transcripts within complex sequencing datasets.
