RNAloops

RNAloops curates a database of RNA multiloop motifs extracted from the Protein Data Bank (PDB) to provide angular and geometric data for studying RNA tertiary organization and multibranch loop spatial arrangements.

Key Features:

  • Data Collection and Storage: Extracts multiloop motifs from RNA structures deposited in the Protein Data Bank (PDB).
  • Angular Data Analysis: Computes planar and Euler angles between pairs of adjacent helices for each multiloop entry.
  • Search and Analysis Capabilities: Enables query-based retrieval of multiloops by criteria and provides analytical outputs of their structural parameters.
  • Data Statistics Computation: Computes statistical summaries of multiloop geometries to identify patterns and trends.

Scientific Applications:

  • RNA Structure and Function Analysis: Provides empirical geometric data to investigate how multiloops influence RNA global fold and function.
  • Drug Design and Therapeutic Development: Supplies structural motifs and angular information that can inform identification of RNA binding sites relevant to therapeutics.
  • Computational Modeling Enhancement: Offers empirical multiloop geometry and statistics to support development and validation of RNA tertiary-structure prediction methods.

Methodology:

Extraction of multiloop motifs from PDB structures, computation of planar and Euler angles between pairs of adjacent helices, and computation of statistical summaries of multiloop geometries.
