RNAssess compares predicted RNA three-dimensional structures to reference structures using atomic-level and global structural analyses.


Key Features:

  • Local Neighborhood Structural Analysis: Defines local neighborhoods as sets of atoms within a sphere centered on a residue’s central atom to quantify atomic-level structural coherence between model and reference.
  • Model–Reference Comparison and Ranking: Performs simultaneous multi-scale structural comparisons, identifies native-like and divergent regions, and ranks RNA models based on aggregated quality metrics.

Scientific Applications:

  • RNA 3D Structure Validation and Benchmarking: Evaluates and benchmarks predicted RNA structures, including models assessed in initiatives such as RNA-Puzzles.

Methodology:

The tool integrates local neighborhood–based atomic comparisons with global structural coherence analysis to measure similarity between RNA models and experimentally determined reference structures and to generate comparative quality rankings.
