Rpadrino
Rpadrino provides programmatic access to the PADRINO repository of integral projection models (IPMs) and enables reconstruction and extension of published IPMs to support quantitative analyses of population dynamics.
Key Features:
- PADRINO access: Interfaces with the PADRINO repository containing 280 IPMs derived from 40 studies covering the demography of 14 animal and 26 plant species.
- IPM reconstruction: Reconstructs IPMs from their symbolic representations using the ipmr software package as the computational engine.
- Data operations: Provides functions to download, subset, reconstruct, and extend published IPMs programmatically.
- Reproducibility testing: IPMs in the collection are tested to reproduce published estimates.
- Model extensibility: Supports augmenting PADRINO entries with external data and modifying parameter values to extend published models.
Scientific Applications:
- Quantitative synthesis: Enables cross-study and meta-analytic comparisons of IPMs in basic and applied ecology and evolutionary biology.
- Ecological hypothesis testing: Facilitates reconstruction and extension of IPMs for hypothesis testing and ecological synthesis related to population dynamics.
Methodology:
Uses the ipmr software package to reconstruct IPMs from symbolic representations; supports downloading, subsetting, reconstructing, extending IPMs; IPMs are tested to reproduce published estimates; supports augmenting PADRINO with external data and modifying parameter values.
