rPanglaoDB

rPanglaoDB facilitates download and integration of uniformly processed single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data from the PanglaoDB database to increase sample sizes for characterization of rare molecular cell phenotypes.

Key Features:

  • Data download: Provides functions to retrieve uniformly processed scRNA-seq datasets from PanglaoDB.
  • Data integration: Merges scRNA-seq data from multiple studies into cohesive combined datasets for joint analysis.
  • Uniform processing and annotation: Leverages PanglaoDB's uniformly processed and annotated records to maintain consistency across sources.
  • Advanced visualization and analysis: Supports downstream visualization and analytical operations on merged datasets to explore cellular phenotypes.

Scientific Applications:

  • Fibrocyte transcriptome characterization: Integration of multiple public datasets enabled compilation of an unbiased transcriptome profile for 157 fibrocytes, revealing dual inflammatory and tissue-remodeling properties similar to macrophages and fibroblasts and implicating pathways involved in prostaglandin biosynthesis and regulation related to healing.

Methodology:

Accesses PanglaoDB's uniformly processed scRNA-seq datasets (human and mouse) and provides functions to download and merge these datasets for meta-analysis.
