rSFFreader
rSFFreader reads sequence data, quality scores, and clipping point values from Standard Flowgram Format (SFF) files produced by Roche 454 and Life Sciences Ion Torrent sequencers and converts them into classes analogous to those found in FASTQ files for downstream bioinformatics analyses.
Key Features:
- Compatibility: Supports SFF files generated by Roche 454 and Life Sciences Ion Torrent sequencing platforms.
- Data Conversion: Reads SFF contents and translates sequence data, quality scores, and clipping point values into FASTQ-like classes.
- Bioconductor Integration: Implemented within the Bioconductor project and the R programming environment to interoperate with other Bioconductor packages.
Scientific Applications:
- Genomic Research: Provides standardized sequence and quality formats to support variant calling, genome assembly, and transcriptome analysis.
- Molecular Biology Studies: Enables accurate interpretation of sequencing data for gene expression analysis and mutation detection.
Methodology:
Reads SFF files and converts contained sequence, quality scores, and clipping point values into FASTQ-like classes within the R/Bioconductor environment.
