Recombinant Virus Database (RVD)
Recombinant Virus Database (RVD) provides curated information on recombinant viruses and shuttle vectors from the RIKEN BioResource Center to support gene therapy and viral-vector research.
Key Features:
- Extensive repository: Contains over 300 recombinant viruses (RVs) and more than 500 shuttle vectors developed by the Japanese research community.
- Molecular annotations: Provides detailed information on inserted full-length cDNAs, associated shuttle vectors, and sequence-tagged sites (STSs) that mark viral DNAs.
- Experimental protocols: Includes experimental protocols describing generation and handling of recombinant viruses and shuttle vectors.
- Production methods: Recombinant adenoviruses (rAds) and shuttle vectors were generated from full-length cDNAs and produced in HEK293 cells via the COS-TPC method.
Scientific Applications:
- Gene therapy and gene delivery: Provides viral vectors and associated data for in vitro and in vivo gene-delivery experiments and gene therapy research.
- Basic and applied viral-vector research: Supports basic research into human gene therapy mechanisms and applied studies involving viral vectors and shuttle-vector usage.
Methodology:
No computational methods are specified in the source description.
