SecReT6

SecReT6 provides a comprehensive database and analysis resource for bacterial Type VI secretion systems (T6SS), supporting identification and comparative analysis of T6SS components, regulators, effectors, and T6SS-dependent killing activities.

Key Features:

  • Extensive Database: SecReT6 v3 encompasses 17,212 identified T6SSs and T6SS-related proteins across 26,573 complete bacterial genomes.
  • Comprehensive Information: Provides detailed data on T6SS components, component interactions, regulators, and effectors.
  • Detection and Analysis Tools: Includes computational tools for detection and analysis of T6SS and related proteins.
  • Risk Estimation: Provides capabilities to estimate the risk associated with T6SS-dependent killing activities.
  • Novel Discoveries: Has been used to identify a novel T6SS regulator and to characterize T6SS-dependent killing capacity in Acinetobacter baumannii clinical isolates.

Scientific Applications:

  • Microbial Pathogenesis: Enables investigation of T6SS roles in microbial pathogenesis and assessment of pathogenic potential of bacterial strains.
  • Inter-bacterial Competition: Supports study of inter-bacterial competition and microbial ecology mediated by T6SS.
  • Regulatory Mechanism Analysis: Facilitates analysis of T6SS regulatory pathways and component interactions.
  • Risk Assessment of Clinical Isolates: Supports evaluation of T6SS-dependent killing capacity in clinical isolates such as Acinetobacter baumannii.

Methodology:

Integration of extensive genomic data produced a repository of T6SS-related information (17,212 T6SSs across 26,573 complete bacterial genomes) together with computational detection, analysis, and risk-estimation functions for T6SS and related proteins.
