SesamumGDB
SesamumGDB integrates genomic resources from two cultivated sesame varieties (Sesamum indicum) and seven wild Sesamum species, covering all three chromosome groups (2n = 26, 32, and 64), to facilitate genetics and genomics analysis of the Sesamum genus.
Key Features:
- Genomic Data Integration: The database contains a total of 352,471 genes, including 6,026 genes related to lipid metabolism and 17,625 transcription factors within Sesamum.
- BLAST: The database includes basic local alignment search tool for sequence similarity searching.
- JBrowse: The database includes the Javascript browser for genome visualization.
- Data Access: The database supports data downloading, screening, visualization, and analysis.
Scientific Applications:
- Sesamum Genomics Research: The database provides extensive insights into the genomics and genetics of sesame, supporting research on the ancient evolutionary position of the Sesamum genus among angiosperms.
- Oilseed Crop Molecular Breeding: The database potentially enhances the molecular breeding of sesame and other oilseed crops through access to lipid metabolism genes and transcription factors.
- Comparative Genomics: The database enables comparative analysis across cultivated and wild Sesamum species with different chromosome numbers.
Methodology:
Genomes were de novo assembled.
