SilkDB

SilkDB provides curated genomic and functional genomics data for the silkworm Bombyx mori to support genome assembly, annotation, expression profiling, and comparative genomic analyses.

Key Features:

  • Comprehensive Genomic Data: A refined high-quality genome assembly with detailed gene annotation, chromosomal mapping, orthologous relationships among genes, Expressed Sequence Tags (ESTs), and associated references.
  • Functional Genomics: Genome-wide microarray data and microarray expression profiles for surveying gene expression across conditions and developmental stages.
  • Specialized Tools: Computational resources including SilkMap for genomic navigation and exploration, Silkworm Chromosome Browser (SCB) for chromosomal visualization and mapping, and BmArray for access to and analysis of genome-wide microarray expression data.

Scientific Applications:

  • Silk biology and production: Enable investigation of genetic mechanisms underlying silk production through integrated genome and expression data for Bombyx mori.
  • Gene expression analysis: Support analysis of gene expression patterns across developmental stages and environmental conditions using microarray profiles and EST data.
  • Comparative and evolutionary genomics: Facilitate identification of orthologous genes and comparative analyses between Bombyx mori and other species.

Methodology:

Integration of a high-quality genome assembly, gene annotation, chromosomal mapping, identification of orthologous genes, Expressed Sequence Tags (ESTs), and genome-wide microarray expression data.
