SITVITBovis aggregates genotyping and epidemiological data for Mycobacterium bovis to support characterization of geographic distribution, spoligotype diversity, phylogenetic sublineages, and host associations.


Key Features:

  • Extensive Data Repository: Contains data on 25,741 isolates from 60 countries of origin and 75 countries of isolation, with annotated phylogenetic sublineages BOV_1, BOV_2, BOV_3, and BOV_4-CAPRAE.
  • Spoligotype Patterns: Reports 1,000 spoligotype patterns, including 537 Spoligotype International Types (SITs) encompassing 25,278 clinical isolates and 463 orphan patterns.
  • Cross-Database Compatibility: Enables comparison of SIT identifiers to SB numbers from the Mbovis.org database for cross-referencing and integration.
  • Host and Geographic Information: Associates isolates with regions of isolation and host species to support analysis of geographic trends and host-specific patterns.
  • Whole-Genome Sequencing Queries (Planned): A forthcoming version will include queries against whole-genome sequencing data.
  • Additional Genetic Markers: Includes limited information on mycobacterial interspersed repetitive units–variable number of tandem repeats (MIRU-VNTR).

Methodology:

Integration of genotyping data (spoligotypes, SITs, MIRU-VNTR where available) with epidemiological metadata and cross-referencing of SIT identifiers to SB numbers from Mbovis.org for comparative analyses.
