SorghumBase
SorghumBase provides an integrated portal for sorghum genomic and genetic resources, enabling exploration of five sorghum reference genome assemblies within a pan-genome browser, access to variant datasets from natural diversity panels and ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS)-induced mutant populations, and cross-references to genebank, QTL, and gene expression databases.
Key Features:
- Genomic Data Integration: Access to five sorghum reference genome assemblies organized within a pan-genome browser framework for comparative analysis of genome structure and diversity.
- Variant Information Repository: Detailed genetic variant data derived from natural diversity panels and ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS)-induced mutant populations.
- Data Integration and Cross-References: Integrated views and cross-references linking genomic data to genebank, QTL (Quantitative Trait Loci), and gene expression databases.
Scientific Applications:
- Genomics-Assisted Breeding: Identifying genetic variants and genome regions associated with traits for incorporation into sorghum breeding programs.
- Molecular Biology Research: Studying gene function and regulation in sorghum using reference genomes and variant datasets.
- Agronomic Trait Analysis: Investigating the genetic basis of agronomically important traits such as drought tolerance and disease resistance.
Methodology:
SorghumBase is implemented on an open-source software framework with a modular design that supports integration of new data types and functionalities.
