SpecDB

SpecDB archives and organizes biomolecular Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) free-induction decay (FID) datasets to provide structured storage of spectral data and associated metadata for downstream machine-learning and NMR analysis.

Key Features:

  • Relational Database Structure: A relational schema records metadata for NMR samples and FID data to enable systematic documentation, categorization, and retrieval.
  • SQLite Implementation: The database is implemented using SQLite for local, file-based storage of the relational schema and FID records.
  • Python Software Library: An accompanying Python library provides programmatic utilities to create, organize, query, backup, share, and maintain NMR spectral databases.
  • FID and Metadata Capture: SpecDB archives free-induction decay (FID) datasets together with associated experimental metadata in a consistent format.

Scientific Applications:

  • Machine Learning Integration: The structured repository of FID data supports development and training of machine-learning models for NMR data processing, resonance assignment, dynamics analysis, and structure determination.
  • Data Sharing and Collaboration: Organized archival of FID data and metadata facilitates sharing and collaborative use of NMR time-domain datasets among researchers.
  • Enhanced Data Management: Long-term preservation and indexed retrieval of NMR time-domain data ensure experimental information is accessible for reanalysis and method development.

Methodology:

SpecDB captures FID data as generated at the spectrometer along with associated metadata, stores them in a relational schema implemented in SQLite, and provides creation, organization, query, backup, share, and maintenance operations via a Python software library to preserve a consistent format for categorization and retrieval.
