SYSVAC

SYSVAC facilitates access to and appraisal of published systematic reviews on immunization to support evidence-based vaccination recommendations by National Immunization Technical Advisory Groups (NITAGs) and the World Health Organization Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (WHO SAGE).

Key Features:

  • Online registry: Catalogs existing systematic reviews on immunization topics to centralize records and reduce duplication of systematic reviews.
  • Assessment guidance: Provides explicit guidance for evaluating up-to-dateness, methodological quality, risk of bias, and transferability/applicability of identified systematic reviews.

Scientific Applications:

  • Policy support for NITAGs and WHO SAGE: Supports National Immunization Technical Advisory Groups and WHO SAGE in developing evidence-based vaccination recommendations using existing systematic reviews.
  • Evidence appraisal and contextualization: Enables evaluation of the relevance, quality, and applicability of systematic review findings to specific populations or settings and helps prevent unnecessary duplication of reviews.

Methodology:

Guidance includes methods for locating systematic reviews in the registry using specific search examples; assessing up-to-dateness, methodological quality, and risk of bias of identified reviews; and assessing transferability and applicability of review findings to different populations or settings.
