T-Rx
T-Rx streamlines the processing of prescription records from electronic health records through an open-source R package that enables reproducible and scalable analysis across databases.
Key Features:
- Extraction and Imputation Module: Extracts and imputes prescription details, such as product strength and prescribed quantity, in UK-based EHR databases including UK Biobank and CPRD.
- Exposure Ascertainment Module: Converts discrete prescribing events into longitudinal exposure periods using one-line R commands.
- Phenotyping Module: Inputs prescriptions and returns phenotype dataframes for downstream analyses.
Scientific Applications:
- Genetic and epidemiological research: Supports studies of the genetic and epidemiological underpinnings of treatment outcomes through linkage between population-wide biobanks and electronic health records.
- Cross-study comparison: Enables scalable analyses and comparison of findings across studies through open, reproducible phenotyping algorithms.
Methodology:
T-Rx consists of three modules: an Extraction and Imputation Module, an Exposure Ascertainment Module, and a Phenotyping Module.
