TAM 2.0

TAM 2.0 performs enrichment and association analysis of microRNA (miRNA) sets to identify functional annotations and disease associations from miRNA expression profiles.

Key Features:

  • Extensive Reference Database: Manual curation of over 9,000 scientific papers yielding more than double the miRNA sets of the predecessor, including 9,945 miRNA–disease associations and 1,584 miRNA–function associations.
  • Functional and Disease Annotation Analysis: Implements overrepresentation analysis to test enrichment of miRNA sets for functional terms and disease annotations.
  • Correlation Analysis: Compares input deregulated miRNAs with miRNAs deregulated under various disease conditions using correlation analysis to reveal shared dysregulation patterns.
  • Query and Visualization: Supports querying of curated miRNA sets and visualization of analysis results for interpretation of associations.

Scientific Applications:

  • miRNA regulatory role analysis: Supports interpretation of miRNA roles in biological processes and disease through enriched functions and associations.
  • Biomarker discovery: Facilitates identification of potential miRNA biomarkers associated with diseases.
  • Therapeutic target identification: Enables prioritization of candidate miRNA therapeutic targets based on functional and disease associations.
  • Comparative disease analysis: Enables comparison of miRNA dysregulation patterns across different disease conditions.

Methodology:

Manual literature curation to build the reference database, combined with overrepresentation analysis and correlation analysis to assess miRNA associations with functions and diseases.
