TarDB

TarDB provides a curated repository of plant microRNA (miRNA) targets and miRNA-triggered phased small interfering RNA (phasiRNA) loci, integrating cross-species conservation and degradome/PARE-supported evidence to deliver high-confidence target annotations for functional and comparative studies.

Key Features:

  • Cross-Species Conserved miRNA Targets: TarDB includes miRNA targets conserved across multiple plant species to inform evolutionary conservation and functional significance.
  • Degradome/PARE Sequencing Supported miRNA Targets: TarDB includes miRNA targets supported by degradome sequencing (PARE-seq) evidence for experimental validation.
  • miRNA-Triggered PhasiRNAs: TarDB catalogs loci for phased small interfering RNAs (phasiRNAs) initiated by miRNAs.
  • Comprehensive Data Collection: TarDB compiles previously reported and novel miRNA targets, including lineage-specific and species-specific miRNAs.
  • Multi-layer Validation and High-Confidence Predictions: TarDB incorporates multiple layers of validation to reduce false positives and prioritize high-confidence miRNA–target annotations.

Scientific Applications:

  • Functional Genomics Studies: Enables investigation of specific miRNA–target interactions in plant biological processes.
  • Comparative Genomics: Supports cross-species analyses of miRNA target conservation and evolutionary relationships among plant species.
  • Biosynthetic Pathway Analysis: Facilitates analysis of miRNA-triggered phasiRNAs within regulatory networks affecting plant metabolism and development.
  • Plant Development and Stress-Response Research: Provides curated targets and phasiRNAs relevant to studies of development and responses to biotic and abiotic stress.

Methodology:

TarDB integrates degradome/PARE-seq evidence, multiple layers of validation, and compiled published and newly identified miRNA target and phasiRNA data.
