TomoMQA
TomoMQA automates quality assurance of mega-voltage computed tomography (MVCT) images from helical tomotherapy platforms to assess imaging performance and consistency for radiation therapy treatment planning.
Key Features:
- DICOM importation: Opens DICOM dataset folders produced by helical tomotherapy systems for analysis.
- Helical tomotherapy compatibility: Supports MVCT data from TomoTherapy® and Radixact™ platforms, including TomoTherapy® HD and HDA models.
- Baseline consistency testing: Compares MVCT scans to pre-existing baseline data or generates a new baseline during analysis.
- TG-148 compliance: Implements QA procedures and default tolerance values recommended by TG-148 for MVCT QA.
- Adjustable tolerances: Allows manual modification of TG-148 default tolerance values used in the analysis.
- Report generation: Produces comprehensive QA reports summarizing analysis results and comparisons to baseline values.
- Implementation: Developed and executed in MATLAB.
Scientific Applications:
- Routine MVCT QA: Assess and document imaging performance of MVCT acquisitions on helical tomotherapy systems.
- Longitudinal consistency monitoring: Detect temporal changes in MVCT image quality through baseline comparisons.
- Standards compliance verification: Verify MVCT datasets against TG-148 recommended tolerance values.
- Cross-machine evaluation: Applied to a study of 15 MVCTs from five helical tomotherapy machines (one TomoTherapy® HD, two TomoTherapy® HDA, and two Radixact™) collected over three months.
Methodology:
Implemented in MATLAB; opens DICOM dataset folders from helical tomotherapy systems, performs baseline consistency testing by comparing to or generating baseline data, applies TG-148 recommended tolerance values (modifiable), and generates a comprehensive QA report.
