UniCarb-DB

UniCarb-DB provides a curated database of LC-MS/MS-characterized oligosaccharide structures and associated fragment data to support glycan structure profiling and analysis of protein glycosylation.

Key Features:

  • LC-MS/MS-characterized structures: Oligosaccharide structures derived from liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry datasets.
  • Fragment ion data: Inclusion of MS/MS fragment spectra linked to structural assignments.
  • Curated annotations and high-quality datasets: Meticulously annotated entries with quality-controlled dataset metadata.
  • Standards and ontologies mapping: Integration and mappings to existing glycomics standards and ontologies developed by other databases.
  • Support for glycan profiling and high-throughput analysis: Data structured to enable glycan structure profiling and large-scale glycomics studies.

Scientific Applications:

  • Glycan structure elucidation: Use of LC-MS/MS spectra and fragment data to determine oligosaccharide structures.
  • Protein glycosylation analysis: Investigation of glycosylation roles in pathogen recognition, innate immune response, and epithelial membrane protection.
  • High-throughput glycomics: Support for large-scale glycan profiling and comparative glycomics studies.
  • Bioinformatics and glycobiology analyses: Reference datasets for computational analyses and development of glycomics tools.

Methodology:

Provides LC-MS/MS-derived oligosaccharide structures with associated MS/MS fragment spectra, meticulously annotated datasets, and mappings to existing glycomics standards and ontologies.
