VHLdb
VHLdb consolidates integrated annotations of interaction and mutation data for the human von Hippel-Lindau tumor suppressor protein (pVHL) to support analysis of pVHL biological roles.
Key Features:
- Extensive Data Collection: Aggregates data on over 478 interactors and 1,074 mutations associated with pVHL, including experimentally validated interactions and those predicted in public databases.
- Organized Annotations: Categorizes pVHL interactors into manual and automatic annotation levels, distinguishing 117 manually curated entries from automatically annotated ones.
- Mutation Data Accessibility: Provides mutation information relevant to tumor predisposition in the retina, epididymis, adrenal glands, pancreas, and kidneys.
- Novel Visualization Tool: Implements a visualization tool for interpreting pVHL interaction networks and mutation data.
Scientific Applications:
- Oncology research: Supports studies of mechanisms underlying tumor development related to pVHL in organs affected by von Hippel-Lindau disease.
- Genetic analysis of VHL disease: Enables analysis of mutations and their association with tumor predisposition in organs affected by von Hippel-Lindau disease.
- Molecular interaction analysis: Facilitates investigation of pVHL protein–protein interactions and network relationships using curated and predicted interaction data.
- Therapeutic target identification: Aids identification and prioritization of potential therapeutic targets related to pVHL interactions and mutations.
Methodology:
Data were collected from literature sources and public databases, followed by a structured annotation process distinguishing manually curated and automatically annotated interactors.
