ViMIC
ViMIC provides a curated database of virus mutations (VMs), viral integration sites (VISs), and virus–host target gene associations to support analysis of genetic and epigenetic contributions of viruses to human disease.
Key Features:
- Curated dataset: Integrates and curates data from published studies comprising 6,461 virus mutations, 79,089 viral integration sites, and 15,056 viral target genes across eight viruses and 65 human diseases.
- Viral mutation (VM) annotations: Records detailed VM information extracted from the literature for downstream analysis of mutation accumulation and association with disease.
- Viral integration site (VIS) annotations: Compiles VIS entries from published sources to enable study of integration events in human genomes.
- Virus–target gene associations: Links viral integrations and mutations to 15,056 putative target genes reported in the literature.
- Epigenetic and regulatory context at VISs: Associates VISs with 78 histone modifications, binding data for 1,358 transcription regulators, and chromatin accessibility information to support cis-effect analyses.
- Literature curation: Data provenance is based on extensive literature review and manual curation of published studies.
Scientific Applications:
- Molecular mechanism investigation: Enables analysis of how viral mutations and integrations contribute to virus-mediated pathogenesis.
- Cis-effect analysis: Facilitates study of local regulatory and epigenetic changes at VISs using histone modification, transcription regulator binding, and chromatin accessibility data.
- Comparative and disease-association studies: Supports cross-virus and cross-disease comparisons across eight viruses and 65 human diseases.
- Translational research support: Provides curated mutation, integration, and target-gene data suitable for hypothesis generation in translational and biomarker studies.
Methodology:
Data were integrated and manually curated from published studies and extensive literature reviews.
