virusMS

virusMS provides a curated database of experimental tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) spectra and annotations for approximately 40,000 synthetic SARS-CoV-2 peptides to support immunopeptidomics and T cell epitope identification.

Key Features:

  • Extensive Peptide Library: A comprehensive collection of approximately 40,000 synthetic SARS-CoV-2 peptides generated for systematic analysis.
  • MS/MS Spectral Collection: Experimental tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) spectra are provided for the peptides to support peptide identification and validation.
  • Detailed Annotations: Peptides are annotated with experimental information including peptide modifications and predicted binding affinities to human leukocyte antigens (HLA).
  • Support for Epitope Mapping: Links spectra and annotations to peptide sequences to facilitate epitope mapping and immunopeptidomics analyses.

Scientific Applications:

  • T cell epitope identification: Identification and analysis of potential T cell epitopes derived from the SARS-CoV-2 proteome.
  • Vaccine design and immune monitoring: Inform vaccine candidate selection and immune monitoring strategies through epitope and spectral data.
  • Peptide–HLA interaction studies: Support investigation of peptide-HLA binding and related host-pathogen interaction questions using annotated peptides and predicted affinities.
  • Proteomics and immunopeptidomics validation: Validate proteomic and immunopeptidomics experiments using the provided MS/MS spectral dataset.

Methodology:

Tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) and proteomic techniques were applied to a library of approximately 40,000 synthetic SARS-CoV-2 peptides to generate experimental MS/MS spectra and peptide annotations, including modifications and predicted HLA binding affinities.
