vital_sqi

vital_sqi provides signal quality control for electrocardiogram (ECG) and photoplethysmogram (PPG) waveforms by extracting and evaluating signal quality indices (SQIs) to support accurate heart rate, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation measurements.

Key Features:

  • Unified Interface: Standardized programmatic interface to access state-of-the-art SQIs for ECG and PPG signals.
  • Peak Detection: Includes seven peak detectors for identifying fiducial points in waveform data.
  • Extensive SQI Access: Provides access to over 70 SQIs across multiple configurations for comprehensive signal integrity assessment.
  • Customizable QC Pipelines: Enables creation of bespoke SQI tables by processing PPG and ECG waveforms through multiple extraction pipelines.
  • Rule-Based Decision Systems: Includes functions to construct rule-based classifiers that apply user-defined SQI thresholds to classify segment quality.

Scientific Applications:

  • Clinical Monitoring: Support accurate monitoring of heart rate, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation from ECG and PPG for cardiovascular assessment.
  • Research Insights: Enable waveform-level analysis beyond simple indices to investigate disease pathophysiology and to develop quality classifiers.

Methodology:

The package extracts and evaluates signal quality indices (SQIs) from ECG and PPG waveforms to indicate signal quality and to identify and filter noise and artifacts.
