WheatQTLdb
WheatQTLdb provides a curated repository of quantitative trait loci (QTL) and marker–trait association data for hexaploid wheat to support genetic analysis and breeding.
Key Features:
- Data content and scale: Contains 11,552 individual QTLs, 107 epistatic QTLs, and 330 metaQTLs (as of May 2020).
- Study types: Consolidates QTLs and marker–trait associations derived from interval mapping and genome-wide association studies (GWAS).
- Trait classification: Covers morphological traits; nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) use efficiency; biofortification traits including iron (Fe), potassium (K), selenium (Se), and zinc (Zn); abiotic stress tolerance to drought, waterlogging, heat stress, pre-harvest sprouting, and salinity; biotic stress resistance to bacteria, fungi, nematodes, and insects; as well as quality, physiological, developmental, and yield-related traits.
- QTL entry metadata: Provides for each QTL entry the QTL name, associated trait, linked markers, parental genotypes, crosses or mapping populations, association mapping panels, and other relevant data.
- Advanced data types: Includes metaQTLs, epistatic QTLs, and candidate gene annotations where available.
Scientific Applications:
- Fine mapping: Use detailed QTL positions and linked markers to refine genomic intervals underlying traits.
- Cloning: Aid identification of candidate genes associated with QTLs to support gene cloning efforts.
- Marker-Assisted Selection (MAS): Provide linked markers for implementation of marker-assisted selection in wheat breeding programs.
Methodology:
Data were collected through a thorough literature search for QTLs and marker–trait associations, manually curated, and assembled into the database format.
