XDS

XDS processes single-crystal monochromatic X-ray diffraction data collected by the rotation method to determine spot parameters, assign crystal symmetry, apply correction and scaling factors, and enable parallelized evaluation of data quality and completeness.

Key Features:

  • Automatic determination of spot size and reflecting range: Automatically determines spot size and reflecting range from rotation images to support accurate spot integration.
  • Recognition and assignment of crystal symmetry: Recognizes and assigns crystal symmetry automatically from diffraction data to inform downstream analysis.
  • Enhanced correction and scaling factors and pixel representation: Supports an expanded set of correction and scaling factors and detailed pixel content representation for more accurate data processing.
  • Restructured for parallel processing: Implements restructuring for parallel computation to enable rapid assessment of data quality and completeness immediately after measurement.

Scientific Applications:

  • Macromolecular structure determination: Processing diffraction data to support atomic structure determination of biological macromolecules.
  • Data quality assessment and completeness evaluation: Rapid evaluation of data quality and completeness for crystallographic experiments, including high-throughput contexts.
  • Support for structural biology and drug discovery: Providing processed diffraction data that contributes to studies of molecular function, interactions, and structure-based drug discovery.

Methodology:

Processes rotation images from X-ray crystallography, automatically determines spot size and reflecting range, recognizes and assigns crystal symmetry, applies correction and scaling factors with detailed pixel content representation, and executes computations in parallel to evaluate data quality and completeness.
